AkkusativVerb with preposition

sprechen über + Akkusativ

to talk about

The verb sprechen über (to talk about) always goes with the preposition über, and here über takes the Akkusativ (accusative). The preposition über can take the Akkusativ or the Dativ — with sprechen it is the Akkusativ, so learn the case together with the verb. The article follows the case: der Plan → über den Plan. For a thing you replace the whole phrase with darüber; for a person you keep the preposition and use a pronoun: über ihn. You ask “Worüber habt ihr gesprochen?” about a thing and “Über wen habt ihr gesprochen?” about a person.
