gehören zu + Dativ
to be part of, to belong to
The verb gehören zu (to be part of, to belong to) always goes with the preposition zu, and here zu takes the Dativ (dative). The preposition zu always takes the Dativ, whatever the verb. The article follows the case: der Job → zum Job (zu + dem contracts to zum). To refer back to it, use dazu. The question word is Wozu: “Wozu gehört das?”
