Exam preparation
DTZ preparation built around your real mistakes
The DTZ decides whether you reach the B1 that residence permits and citizenship often require — and the writing and speaking parts are where everyday mistakes pile up. mitDeutsch remembers every mistake you make and rebuilds your lessons around it. A general chatbot starts every conversation from zero. It remembers the mistakes from your integration-course practice and turns them into focused drills.
What the DTZ is
The Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer (DTZ) is the standard exam at the end of the state integration course (Integrationskurs). It is a scaled A2–B1 test: your result is reported as A2 or B1 per skill, and reaching B1 matters for permanent residence (Niederlassungserlaubnis) and naturalisation.
It covers Hören, Lesen, Schreiben (writing a short everyday letter) and a three-part Sprechen (introducing yourself, describing a picture, solving a task with a partner). The content is practical and life-based — appointments, housing, work, authorities.
Why a tutor with memory matters here
DTZ candidates are often juggling the exam with a new job and a new country. Practice time is scarce, so wasting it re-making the same mistakes is expensive.
mitDeutsch makes every minute count: it remembers your recurring errors, drills the exact structures the DTZ letter and speaking tasks need, and adapts to your A2-to-B1 level. Speaking practice includes pronunciation scoring so the Sprechen part feels familiar on the day.
- Everyday letter-writing practice matched to the DTZ Schreiben task
- Three-part speaking practice with per-word pronunciation feedback
- Recurring A2/B1 grammar mistakes drilled until they clear

Frequently asked questions
What level do I need to pass the DTZ?
The DTZ reports A2 or B1 per skill. For most residence and citizenship purposes you want B1. Run the free Diagnose to see whether you are already at B1 or still around A2.
Can mitDeutsch replace the integration course?
No — the Integrationskurs is the official, often funded route to the DTZ and includes orientation content. mitDeutsch is the extra practice that helps you actually reach B1 in writing and speaking.
Is the DTZ the same as telc B1?
The DTZ is delivered by telc and the BAMF and is a scaled A2/B1 test specifically for integration-course participants. It is not identical to the standalone telc Deutsch B1, but the B1 skills you practise are the same.
